Let’s switch to the 1st person because this is about to get personal… At 6 weeks postpartum with my second child I saw the opportunity to apply for the Creative Equals course, by 8 weeks postpartum I had submitted my response, and by 10, I was attending my first zoom meeting. Talk about a whirlwind. In short, it was epic. We bonded, we laughed, we learnt. From Adobe experts teaching us AI, to industry greats coaching us daily, my 4AM feeds were now a careful juxtaposition of boobs and brainstorms; and my evenings were spent playing—with my children—and AI. I began to feel the cogs turning again, with a much needed jolt back and a jump start, surrounded by talented peers with the same ambition—getting it back, whatever it was.

Along the way, we teamed up to work on a LIVE Smirnoff brief, which culminated in an in-person meeting at Diageo’s offices. One that my team and I did not expect to walk away from in joint-first. I’m still a little bamboozled, but my mind is clear and my ambition re-energized.

For me, this course is/was groundbreaking and an experience I hope so many others get to enjoy. I’ll be forever thankful. It reminded me that not only can I be a kick-arse mum, but also pursue my personal creative ambitions.
